Removing layers of tension and holding to regain your authentic self
Many upper body conditions—such as neck pain, shoulder tension and headaches —can persist despite conventional treatment. These symptoms are rarely only structural, but reflect a combination of myofascial restriction, breathing limitations, nervous system dysregulation and patterns of expression.
In this 6-day Myofascial Energetic Release training module, you will learn a comprehensive approach to working with the face, cranium, neck, arms and nervous system regulation. As tension is released and function improves, this is accompanied by a shift toward more awareness, authentic expression and a more balanced nervous system.
The Face and Upper Body: Structure and Expression
The face and upper body are central to how we perceive, communicate and respond to the world. Chronic tension in these areas can reflect both physical strain and emotional holding, often developing over time into fixed patterns.
The arms and shoulders are essential for interaction and expression. Dysfunction in these areas can lead to pain, reduced mobility and compensation patterns.
Studies have shown that ‘stuck’ expressions in the face can make us actually feel the corresponding emotion. This means that even when we are not always ‘sad’, the stuck facial expression will trigger us to feel more sad than we really are and will make other people respond to the particular emotion they see in you.
- tension in the jaw, face and neck can reflect stress, control or unresolved emotion
- repeated facial expressions can become fixed muscular patterns
This module focuses on restoring the client’s “Original Face”—a state where expression is no longer fixed, but responsive, alive and authentic.
The Vagus Nerve and Nervous System Regulation
The vagus nerve plays a key role in regulating the autonomic nervous system, influencing states of safety, connection and relaxation. Working with the face, neck and breath directly affects the vagus nerve and the autonomic nervous system. With improved vagal tone clients often experience a greater ability to connect with others
Restoring the Original Face
Facial muscles play a crucial role in both emotional expression and sensory feedback to the brain. When expressions become fixed, they can reinforce emotional patterns and limit responsiveness.
An International Professional Training in Holistic Bodywork
This module is part of a comprehensive professional training in Myofascial Energetic Release offered by True North Bodywork and is designed for therapists, bodyworkers and those seeking a professional training in deep bodywork, fascia therapy and trauma-informed practice.
